An exhibition of 23 newly created photographs is currently on view at SEZON ART SHOP. Due to popular demand, the exhibition has been extended through Sunday, November 29. Featuring 58 photographs, including works shown in the exhibition, the book captures the museum’s architecture and gardens, nestled within the land and forests shaped by the eruptions of Mount Asama. Takimoto also photographed Mount Asama itself. Through his distinctive perspective, Takimoto portrays the museum’s landscapes in relation to the geological origins of the land and the passage of time across the ages. Designed by Yuri Uenishi, the book features a substantial hardcover that evokes the accumulation of history and time. Foil stamping reminiscent of cracks and moss, together with a palette that transitions from deep to vivid green, reflects the lush vegetation of the gardens and the character of the museum down to the finest details. Generous use of white space and a layout featuring one photograph per double-page spread allow each image to stand out, highlighting its individual beauty. Since childhood, Takimoto has explored themes such as the relationship between the universe and the Earth, humanity and nature, and the visible and invisible worlds. Inspired by early experiences observing the night sky, he has developed a distinctive photographic practice through acclaimed series including LAND SPACE, GRAIN OF LIGHT, LUMIÈRE, and PRIÈRE. Created specifically for the museum's seaside setting, the exhibition premieres Takimoto's new series, LUNATION, structured around the lunar cycle from new moon to full moon. Through photographs of the sea, celestial movement, and the faint light reflected on the water's surface, the exhibition evokes the vast dimensions of time and space that connect the rhythms of the cosmos with the origins of life on Earth.
