MONOSPINALという建築作品を撮影しました。奇抜な建築作品から受け取った印象が、以前BAUHAUS建築（ドイツにある造形学校）を撮影する際に用いた絵画のようなトーンや、立体物を平面に変換する手法が利用できると考えました。ゲーム会社の社屋という現実を、ゲームの中で街に突如現れたような奇抜な建築物として、CGやヴァーチャル的な異物感そのままに情緒を排し熱量を抑え撮影しました。建築物にあたる太陽光の向きや、薄めの雲でディフューズされ微かに残った光を待ち、壁面の質感や立体感を表現し、ギリギリのところで実際の建築物を想像できるくらいの抽象性を狙って撮影しました。山口誠氏のギャラリー MYD Galleryにて展示を開催します。MONOSPINAL（モノスパイナル）——。山口誠の設計によって東京・浅草橋に姿を現したこの建築は、外観を9層の斜壁に囲まれ、中の様子を窺い知ることはできない。空へと向かって広がる逆勾配型の斜壁は、高架線路や雑居ビルが密集する街において周囲からの音、光、風をコントロールし、建築に高い自律性をもたらしている。瀧本幹也は、この容易には説明し難い建築を見たとき、自らの写真で捉えてみたいという衝動に駆られたという。MONOSPINALが持つ幾何学的な線と面に着目し、それを手がかりとして、4×5インチフィルムの大判カメラで切り取っていくことを試みた。本展では、そこで生まれた10点の写真作品を掲出する。 “部分”にフォーカスしたこれらの写真は、情報が削ぎ落とされ、無機的に描かれた絵画のようである。しかしよく見ると、撮影時に緻密に計算された光の影響で斜壁の質感が残されており、それが生きている建築であることを教えてくれる。建築を撮るという行為は、建築家が二次元から三次元に起こしたものを、再び二次元に変換する作業だと瀧本は語る。そのとき、写真家の建築への眼差しが表れる。本展を訪れた人は、建築家と写真家の関わりによって再構築されたもう一つのMONOSPINALに出会うことになるだろう。 2023年12月9日（土）〜2024年5月25日（土）MYD Gallery Adress 東京都港区南麻布2-8-17鳥海ビル1F 時間 平日 10:00~19:00 (予約制) 土曜 12:00~17:00 休廊日 日曜日・祭日 (平日のみ予約制予約フォーム) I photographed an architectural work called MONOSPINAL. From my impressions of this striking architectural piece, I thought I could use a method of converting a 3D object into planes, and the painterly tones that I used when I previously photographed BAUHAUS (German art and design school) architecture. I photographed the reality that this is a game company’s office building, as the sort of striking building that might have suddenly appeared in a game, restricting the heat level, keeping the CG or virtual-like foreign body sensation as is, pushing emotion aside. I waited for the sunlight to hit the building from the angle I wanted and the faint remaining light after it was diffused by thin cloud to convey the solidity and the texture of the wall surfaces, aiming to capture its abstractness very close to the point that would (or wouldn’t) allow you to imagine the actual building. The exhibition opens at Makoto Yamaguchi’s gallery, MYD Gallery. MONOSPINAL——. This building appeared in the Asakusabashi area of Tokyo by virtue of Makoto Yamaguchi’s design, externally surrounded on the outside by sloping walls on 9 stories, making it impossible to tell what is going on inside. The slope of the walls is reversed to face the sky and control the sound, light, and wind from the surrounding neighborhood crowded by an elevated railroad and multipurpose buildings, giving the building a strong sense of autonomy. When Mikiya Takimoto first saw this difficult-to-describe building, he independently felt the strong compulsion to capture it through his photography. He endeavored to capture MONOSPINAL with a large format camera using 4 x 5-inch film, focusing on its geometric lines and surfaces, using them as a way in. This exhibition displays 10 photographic works created out of that endeavor. These photos focus on “parts,” like pictures painted inorganically, information pared back. But when you look more closely, you see that before he pressed the shutter button he made minute calculations to do with the effects of the light, which captures the texture of the sloping walls, telling us that this is a living building. While architects render 3 dimensions out of 2, Takimoto tells us that the act of photographing architecture is the task of converting them back into 2 dimensions. In doing so, the way the photographer sees that architecture becomes apparent. Visitors to this exhibition will encounter another version of MONOSPINAL, one that has been reconstructed out of the connections between this photographer and this architect. 2021年の東日本大震災から、気仙沼の漁師を応援し、広くそのかっこよさを伝えるために制作が始まった気仙沼漁師カレンダー。第一回は師匠の藤井保さん。10作目の最終章に気仙沼を撮影する機会をいただき、夏と冬の２回気仙沼の漁師の方たちと魚船を撮影しました。土地に生き、土地や海を愛する人々の想いが染み込むように伝わってきます。プロデュース：竹内順平 編集・文：唐澤和也 デザイン：鈴木歩The Kesennuma Fisherman Calendar has been produced to show everyone far and wide what striking figures the fishermen of Kesennuma make, to support them in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. The first calendar was by Tamotsu Fujii, my teacher. I was given the opportunity to photograph Kesennuma for the 10th and final calendar and took photos of Kesennuma fishermen and their families with their fishing boats on 2 occasions, in summer and in winter. Permeating the photos you can feel the spirit of these people, who live on the land and love both the land and the sea. Yukino Kishii depicts the character of a person working at the bank and how that worker pursues the task of finding a solution for a customer by taking their point of view. Kishii herself sings the English version of “Shinya Kosoku” (“Midnight Highway”) by Flower Companyz. Please take a look.

Since ancient times, the world has been shaped by the abundance, fusion and circulation of all life, natural and human, in the uninterrupted flow of time. As a photographer, Mikiya Takimoto has endeavored to capture the essence and breath of the Earth as a single living organism. He has traveled to the farthest reaches of the planet in search of this purest form of our world. During the pandemic, he came face to face with the microcosms that make up our immediate environment. His gaze, from predominantly macroscopic, shifted to the infinitely small. On closer inspection, the smallest of worlds resembles the immensity of the universe in its infinite expanse, which also echoes the depths of the mind. 京都に本店を構える七條甘春堂の商品ビジュアルを2021年7月から年間通じて撮り続けてきました。作りたての和菓子の新鮮さ、可愛さ、手をかけるからこそ生まれる手仕事の作り手の想いが一つ一つの商品に現れます。日本に四季があることを五感で教えてもらえる和菓子の魅力。しっとりと美味しく、眺めて楽しく、香りに癒され、口にした時の音や手に持った感触までも楽しめます。アートディレクターは関本明子さん。書家は寺島響水さん。七條甘春堂のホームページもリニューアルされ、新たな始まりを予感させます。小さな和菓子の世界が、広く感じられる展開をどうぞお楽しみください。I have been creating product visuals for Shichijo Kanshundo, a traditional confectioner based in Kyoto, throughout each year since July 2021. Each and every sweet reveals the freshness and gorgeousness of these freshly made wagashi, or traditional Japanese confections, as well as the spirit of the maker, made manifest by the very act of creating them by hand. There is a fascinating appeal in these Japanese confections which tell us through all five senses that there are four seasons in Japan. Each sweet delights with its delicious moistness, visual enjoyment, soul-soothing fragrance, the sound it makes when you bite into it, and the texture you feel with your fingers as you pick it up. Akiko Sekimoto is the art director. Kyosui Terashima is the calligrapher. Shichijo Kanshundo have also updated their website to give us a sense of new beginnings. I have projected the small world of wagashi to give it a larger feel. I hope you enjoy it.
